Annika Sorenstam glove drill: three-step practice guide.

This drill is from the Golf Practice Made Easy App.

Feel your lead arm move with your body using a glove tucked lightly under your lead armpit. Begin with small rehearsals, then carry that connected feeling into gentle short shots.

Watch the glove-under-arm rehearsal in this Golf Influencer video. Focus on the small movement and the relationship between the lead arm and the body. Use the practice sequence below to build the feeling gradually.

Step 1. Tuck the glove

Step 1: Tuck the glove.

What to do

ActionWhat to do
Find your lead armFor a right-handed golfer, the lead arm is the left arm. For a left-handed golfer, it is the right arm.
Tuck the glove lightlyPlace a spare glove under your lead armpit. Hold it gently with the upper arm; avoid squeezing your arm tightly into your chest.

Step 2. Rehearse five half-swings

Step 2: Rehearse five half-swings.

Make five easy half-swings, keeping the glove in place. Keep your arms relaxed.

What to do

ActionWhat to do
Make five small rehearsalsTake your normal grip and make five easy half-swings without a ball. Let your body turn and your arms move with it, keeping the glove in place during the small rehearsal.
Hit gentle short shotsUse a short iron and an easy half-swing. Start with a few gentle shots, keeping your arms relaxed and the movement compact.
Compare the feelingRemove the glove for a few shots and try to keep the same connected feeling. Use the rehearsal again if the lead arm begins to move independently.

Your shoulders or arms feel tenseLoosen the pressure holding the glove. It is a feedback aid, not something to clamp in place.
You stop turning to keep the glove trappedLet your body turn naturally. Use a shorter swing instead of restricting the movement.
You try to keep it trapped through a full finishReturn to the small rehearsal. Do not force the arm against your body through a full swing.

Step 3. Play your round of 18

Step 3: Play your round of 18.

Hit 18 gentle short shots in two sets of nine. Score one point per clean strike.

Reset between shots and keep the same club and comfortable swing size. Record your successful shots out of 18 and one useful practice note.

In the Golf Practice Made Easy App, tick one box under Score your practice for each completed shot. Record successful shots separately. The eighteen-shot round is our App practice format.

Use the glove to notice the connection, then put it away and test that feeling in your normal swing. Keep the rehearsal small and relaxed. The aim is coordinated movement and better contact, rather than holding the glove as tightly as possible.
