The practice problem

You have time to practise. What should you actually do?

It is easy to practise without knowing what to work on. Pick one card for a clear drill, then record what you learned.

How it works

A useful session starts with one card.

No complicated plan to build before you start.

1

Pick a card

Browse Putting, Chipping, Bunker, Wedge Play, Long Game, Golf Fitness and Mind Game. Choose by time or difficulty, search by tag, or tap Surprise Me Algorithm.

2

Take it with you

Save it in My Cards. Check the time, equipment and difficulty, then follow the illustrated steps. The video is an optional demonstration.

3

Complete your round

Tick off your practice attempts, add any notes and complete your round. Go straight to Colour-coded Progress Tracker to see what you have done.

One drill at a time

Open a card. Start a practice.

See how long to allow, what to bring and the difficulty before you begin. Follow the illustration and three clear steps, or watch a video demonstration where available to see the setup and movement in action and practise with greater confidence.

Keep chosen drills in My Cards, or put them together in My Challenges. Your 30-day challenge gives you time to explore several drills, with no pressure to practise every day.

My Practice Round

Make every repetition count.

Tap My Practice Round on any card to track your repetitions, notes and practice time for that drill.

Search by tag

Find a drill that fits your session.

Choose your practice area, then use tags to narrow your choices. Find something that suits your time, equipment and what you want to work on.

Search by tag guide showing practice areas, time filters, nine tag categories and the Show cards button.

Choose from 9 tag categories

Time, Difficulty level, Equipment, Body area, Fitness focus, Golf goal, Type of club, Where to practise and Coach/pro. Open a category and tap the tags that matter to your session.

For example, choose Chip and 10 min to find a short chipping drill. Add more choices to refine the results, then tap the yellow Show cards button to explore your matches.

The matching-card count helps you see your options before opening them. Tap Clear choices whenever you want to start again.

Useful questions

Questions before you start?

Is this an app or a download?

It is a browser app on GolfPracticePlans.co.uk. There is no file to install.

Do I need a membership account?

Yes. The new card deck uses a member account so your chosen cards, attempts, notes and rounds can be saved on the site and opened across devices.

Will my practice notes sync between devices?

Yes. When you are signed in with an active card deck membership, your practice is saved to your account. Use that same account on another device to pick up where you left off.

Do I have to practise several drills at once?

No. One card is enough for a focused session. You can save several cards in My Cards if you want options.

Do I need to practise every day in a 30-day challenge?

No. Choose which drills to practise over the next 30 days, whenever you have time. There is no daily timetable or complicated challenge scoring.

Can I choose my own challenge drills?

Yes. Pick a category, combine categories or use Pick my drills to choose specific cards. Completed drills are marked in your challenge.

Can my Golf Circle join a challenge?

You can share a 30-day challenge with your circle. Members choose whether to take part and record their own practice.

How it started

A bucket of balls needs a drill.

George with his Golf Practice Made Fun Browser App and his former tour pro brother Carl at the range

This is how my practice sessions used to go. I would stand over a bucket of balls with the best of intentions and with a plan that consisted of “hit loads of balls for hours.”

47 balls later, my brain would have come up with 6 new swing ideas. The result was a frazzled brain. I’m a scratch golfer, and my brother Carl played on the European Tour, so you might think I’d know a smarter way to practice.

I didn’t! But after years of practising like an amateur, I created the Golf Practice Made Fun Browser App to make my practice fun and one-pointed, which turns out to be the ideal way to practice. My scores and enjoyment levels improved.

The bucket still gets emptied, but at least it now has a purpose.
