Steps
Step 1: Watch
Watch the video.
Step 2: Know The Common Faults
Most amateurs don’t open the club face enough. If you don’t open the face enough, you don’t use the all-important “bounce”. A square club face will dig into the sand (that’s bad!).
Most amateurs don’t have their “sternum” over the ball. They have it behind the ball, which makes you hit too far behind the ball.
Most amateurs aren’t aggressive enough. Have the courage to swing hard and finish high!
Step 3: Sternum Over Ball
Have your “sternum” over the ball with the ball just slightly forward of the middle.
Step 4: Get Low
Bend your knees and get low. Have a wide stance (wider than you think). Lower hands.
Step 5: High Cut
Feel like you’re hitting a high cut. That will help to shallow out the divot (a good thing!). Finish high.
Step 6: Keep Score
Hit 10 balls from 10 yards. Tally how many balls you got within 2 yards.
Hit 10 balls from 20 yards. Tally how many balls you got within 3 yards.
Hit 10 balls from 30 yards. Tally how many balls you got within 4 yards.
Give yourself one point for each shot you get within a 3-yard radius of the hole. The maximum score is 30 points.
