DRILL OVERVIEW
Kettlebell Golf Posture & Turn Drill
Your drill at a glance

This drill is from the Golf Practice Made Easy App.
This kettlebell golf workout drill gives you a simple task: keep a light weight close to your chest while you turn gently in golf posture.
Keep your knees soft, your back long and the movement slow. Choose a small, comfortable turn that you can control in both directions.
Watch the kettlebell posture and turn demonstration
Watch Tyler Parsons demonstrate the posture and turn exercise, starting at 55 seconds. The same video is linked on Golf Fitness card 3, Kettle Bell: Golf Posture & Turn, in the App. Follow the three steps below with a light kettlebell.
Step 1. Find your posture
What to do
| Action | What to do |
|---|---|
| Choose a light weight | Use a kettlebell you can hold comfortably close to your chest. Check that the floor is clear and your footing is steady. |
| Hold it close | Grip the handle with both hands and keep your elbows bent. Hold the weight near your chest throughout the exercise. |
| Hinge into golf posture | Stand with feet about shoulder-width apart, soften your knees and hinge gently from your hips. Keep your back long and your balance centred. |
Step 2. Turn with control
What to do
| Action | What to do |
|---|---|
| Turn gently | Turn your hips and chest to the side, carrying the kettlebell beside your body while your face stays facing forwards. Keep the weight close and use a comfortable range. |
| Follow your shirt buttons | Imagine the kettlebell follows the buttons on your shirt as you turn. Carry it with your chest rather than reaching away with your arms. |
| Return to the middle | Return slowly to your starting position, then turn the other way. Keep the same steady pace in both directions. |
Quick movement checks
| Watch for | Try this |
|---|---|
| The weight drifts away from your chest | Reset your bent elbows and use a lighter kettlebell if needed. |
| Your back rounds or you stand up | Use a smaller turn and reset your comfortable hip hinge. |
| You rush or lose balance | Slow down, reduce the turn and pause in the middle. |
| The movement hurts | Stop the exercise and put the weight down under control. Do not force the turn. |
Step 3. Record 18 turns
What to do
| Score | When to award it |
|---|---|
| 1 point | You turn and return with the weight close, a long back and steady balance. |
| 0 points | You do not complete a controlled turn and return. |
