Bobby Jones Grand Slam Wall Art

Dear fellow golfer,

My name is George Watts. I’m an artist, the creator of the Golf Drills Practice Planner, an artist, and a yoga teacher.

From a historical photo, I painted Bobby Jones surrounded by all four of the trophies that he won during his historical 1930 Grand Slam.

On 27 September 1930, golfer Bobby Jones won his fourth major tournament of the year, making him the first person ever to win the “Grand Slam” of golf.

Bobby Jones’ 1930 Grand Slam consisted of victories in the U.S. Open, British Open, U.S. Amateur and British Amateur in the same year was the first in golf history. The four events took place over a five-month period, with the U.S. Amateur coming last.

Jones retired from golf at the age of 29, shortly after winning the Grand Slam. Over the course of his career, he won four U.S. Opens, five U.S. Amateurs, three British Opens and one British Amateur. His total of 15 major tournaments wasn’t surpassed until Jack Nicklaus won his 16th major in 1980.
