Use The Anti Hip Sway Drill To Stop Your Hips From Swaying Like Elvis Presley!

elvis presley anti hip sway golf drillI added the Anti Hip Sway Drill to the Golf Practice Planner today because hip-swaying is such a common fault for golfers.

The hip-sway is a dynamite move on the dance floor if you happen to be Elvis Presley, but it’s best you leave your Elvis swaying hips at home when you depart for the golf course.

The Anti Hip Sway Drill will stop your hips from swaying on the backswing. A sway is when the hips move laterally off to the right (like Elvis is doing). If you sway you’ll be putting most of your weight on your right foot at the end of the backswing which is death to your golf swing.

This drill will also help you with weight transfer and coil on the backswing.

Please don’t be fooled by the simplicity of this drill. Swaying is widely regarded by teaching pros to be one of the most common swing faults they see when teaching.

Step 2: Alignment Stick
Place an alignment stick in the ground. Take your address position so that the alignment stick is just outside your right foot. On the backswing make sure your hips don’t sway and hit the stick. On the backswing, you want to feel that your right hip moves towards your left heel. If you can’t hold your finish without losing balance, you almost certainly swayed during the shot.

Step 3: Keep Score
Hit 10 balls on the practice ground. Give yourself one point each time you didn’t hit the alignment stick on the backswing, and you felt that your right hip moved towards your left heel.
